Marine Superintendent / DPA / CSO
As DFDS continues to expand its fleet in the Strait of Gibraltar, we’re looking for a passionate and experienced Marine Superintendent who will also serve as Designated Person Ashore (DPA) and Company Security Officer (CSO). This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping safety and operational excellence across our growing regional fleet in Spain/Strait of Gibraltar. You will join a dynamic team with colleagues based in Morocco and Spain, fully engaged and working as a one team across the Strait of Gibraltar.

About the role
Are you passionate about driving operational excellence and building a world-class safety culture? Join our global Marine Standards Safety team and play a pivotal role in ensuring our vessels operate at the highest standards across the region. You’ll report directly to our Head of Marine Standards in Denmark and collaborate with experts worldwide.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and oversee all marine operations and safety standards for our regional fleet.
- Ensure full compliance with international and local maritime regulations.
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, readiness, and operational performance.
- Champion a proactive safety culture, supporting crew and colleagues at every level.
- Conduct audits, technical inspections, and accident investigations.
- Act as a key advisor on crisis management and emergency response.

The ideal candidate will bring:
- Certification as a Designated Person (DPA) (MSC-MEPC.7/Circ.6)
- Certification as a Company Security Officer (CSO) (MSC/Circular.1154)
- Fluency in English and Spanish (business level)
- Expert knowledge of maritime rules and regulations
- Experience in Ro/Ro, Ro/Pax & HSC sectors (strong advantage)
- Outstanding communication and collaboration skills
- A true passion for safety and building strong safety cultures
- Proven experience in crisis management and accident investigation
- Hands-on experience with audits and technical inspections
About you
You will be based in Algeciras or its immediate surroundings since this is an on-site position. You will be a part of a multinational team, both in your function where you report to our Head of Marine Standards in Denmark, and with the people you work with every day in our business unit! This requires that you are able to work in both English and Spanish. If you have other language skills such as French or Arabic, this will be considered an advantage. We need someone who sees that collaboration and working together with others helps us being better at what we do every day, both as a team and as a company.
